A comedy about ”Communal Being” is the new hit by Sunny Suninski

"(...) This performance tells four stories and all of them take place at the same time and in the same place. That is why the set had to be just as functional. The set and costume design is by Vecheslav Parapanov. It is easily navigable and the actors shift it around themselves. Without much ado or noise they move from one flat to another inside the communal building. The constant change of location and set give the performance a very cinematographic feel. The frequent changes create a dynamic situation which is particularly interesting to the audience, people do not take their eyes off the stage even for a moment. (...)
„Flat Share or Life Share“ is an incredibly entertaining performance which is a must. You are bound to have a great time seeing on stage all those real-life situations we have all witnessed in our own lives, only here they are actually funny. And besides, this performance does not just make you giggle your head off. True – most of you would probably leave the theatre with a smile on your face but many will probably think if they are really showing their friends and family how much they care for them, or are way too busy with their own problems. „Flat Share or Life Share“ is a comedy made up of four plays by three Russian writers - Konstantin Kostenko, Victor Lyapin and Oleg Ernyov. They all meet in a communal building which I came up with. It is Christmas Night, in expectation of the celebrations for the New Year. And while we wait we witness a few events emblematic of our common life-style. Set against the background of one of the major feasts of Christianity, a time when one is encouraged to look within, to reconsider human values and hopes, the characters in this play remain drowned in the problems of their own day-to-day lives, lacking any sense of compassion, completely buried in the material. This is a play about the lack of gentleness and care. It is an ironical view of the indifference, the intolerence, the lies and unlawfulness which have become the norm, and what is more – they have become the model of behaviour. It is a grotesque about our own apathy, the unquestioning acceptance which has become part of our life. And in this time of cold which staggers our lives, if there were anything warm, it may indeed be the snowman out there in the yard. Paradoxically, it is now warmer and cosier outdoors than it is in the homes where we live. Snowmen are the only normal people left. But if you don't think so, perhaps there still is hope. Enjoy the scenes involving all twelve people sharing the same living space in the communal building!

Yours truly:
Sunny Suninski

”Flat Share” as a reality show

"(...) But behind the rough jokes one could see the entire spiritual emptiness of this „society“ brought together by accident. The director creates a metaphor out of the mundane daily existence.
Art is more perfect than life, it is a concentrated piece of life. Following that same logic some time ago a prominent journalist who probably was first to add elements of reality show to his TV programme said that even the worst book was richer in content than even the most valuable person. Therefore even the mediocre performance would make more sense than any pseudo-reality shows with weak writers. And if the performance is truly entertaining as is the case, even though it digs in life's backyard, it is still thousands of times better than those programmes claiming they showed „a representative sample of society“. It is almost like asking whether it us better to be young, good-looking an talented, or old, boring and untalented?! Well, Sunny Suninski is the former..."
