Brazilian recipes

Kaipirinya is the most popular cocktail in Brazil. It’s a mixture of lime, sugar, ice and kashasa (a highly alcoholic drink made from sugar cane). Every Brazilian house has a wood pestle which is used to smash the limes. There are also cook sets made for preparing kaipirinya that are sold mainly to tourists.

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml kashasa
  • 1 lime
  • 1 soup spoon of sugar
  • ice

Preparation:
Wash the lime and cut both ends. Remove the white kernel which gives the bitter taste and slice the rest into 5 or 6 pieces. Put them into a glass and spread it with the sugar. Smash the limes until their juice is released. Sprinkle with ice and pour the kashasa.
